Hugh Lawson Combs

 

1. Hugh Lawson3 Combs (Rufus K2, Samuel Richardson1) was born December 29, 1837 in Kentucky, and died January 25, 1917 in Moberly, Randolph County, MO. He married Helen C Davis November 03, 1872, daughter of William Davis. She was born March 01, 1853 in MO, and died March 16, 1928.

One of Moberly's Oldest Citizens- Born in Kentucky in December of the Year 1837

Hugh L. Combs died at 4:25 o'clock Thursday evening in the family home at 504 East Logan street. He was born in Kentucky, December 29th, 1887, and his age was 89 years, one month and twenty-four days. The surviving relatives are a wife, four sons, C. M. Combs, San Antonio, Texas; E. M. Combs, Des Moines, Iowa; C. M. and R. M. Combs, of this city; one daughter, Mrs. Anderson McBride, Sedalia; three sisters, Mrs. Sallie Barton, of Moberly; Mesdames John Mason and Eugene Settle, Madison, and eight grandchildren.

Mr. Combs was a retired farmer and was one of the best known citizens of Randolph county. He was honest, upright and industrious, a devoted husband and father, an affectionate brother, a kind friend and a consistent member of the Christian church.

The funeral will be conducted by Rev. W. T. Henson, of the First Christian church, in the family home 8:30 o'clock Saturday morning, and the remains will then be taken to Madison for burial.

Mrs. Helen C. Combs, 73, for the past 23 years a well known Moberly citizen, died at her home, 318 East Rollins street, at 12:25 o'clock this morning after an illness of six weeks. Mrs. Combs' survivors are: One daughter, Mrs. Anderson McBride, of Hannibal; four sons, C. M; of Los Angeles, Cal. R. M. and Carl, of Moberly, and E. M., of Huntsville; two brothers, W. T. and H. T. Davis, of Madison, and one sister, Mrs. Lucy Hern, of Seattle, Wash. Mrs. Combs was a member of the Central Christian Church. Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
